...Has Come To An Unfortunately Abrupt End

Hello, everyone. AreKayHen here.

I have come with a sad update about my previous update (which you can read here: https://arekayhen.blogspot.com/2025/07/a-new-chapter-in-my-life.html)

I was really hoping the job I got about a week ago would help sustain me as I continued my endeavors in business, art and life. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I am not happy about it.

I ended up quitting because I found out later on that the marketing firm I joined was a devilcorp, specifically a misleading commission-only job.

I recently heard about this type of company for the first time. If you don't know what they do, they disguise themselves as marketing or management firms that say they will help you gain business skills and pay. In reality, they are shady, exploitative work environments that make you hustle in any weather condition. They make you go door-to-door as a solicitor, regardless of whether those doors are public or private, to represent a company that prefers to avoid any legal responsibility for its actions. All of those absurdly long hours per work week just for you/them to get no to (if you're lucky) a few sales. To top it all off, these devilcorps expect you to climb up fast or to bite the dust even when the working environment feels laid back and the employers/employees are friendly.

See, scams like these compel me even more to draw art online. I want to make a living doing something I am good at and doing so on my own terms/pace. I want others to know that, despite my flaws, I would never lie about who I am and want to gain trust with them, whether they are a friend or a client. I want to learn something new and to be good at it without expectation. I want to be a shining example among many of what a good freelancer/business does. I want to be a freelancer so I don't have to deal with this broken job market.

In the end, it has become evident that the job I took did not match my moral preferences. Even if it did, it would not be sustainable.

But, hey, look on the bright side. At least I am back with time on my hands to make more art. That's good... right...?

*sigh*

...Before I go, just know that if you or someone you know has been in or is in a devilcorp, there are resources to help you prevent that, either at www.devilcorp.org, www.thedevilcorp.wordpress.com or www.reddit.com/r/Devilcorp.

That is all. Stay safe out there.
